INTRODUCTION
My name is Boston Osborne and I am a first year student majoring in Dietetics at the University of Cincinnati. I'm originally from Marion, Ohio, a city with a population less than 1/5 of Cincinnati's. In Marion, I would see at least 10 people that I knew every time I went to the grocery store. I grew up with a very supportive and inspiring family that taught me everything from work ethic to humor and humility.
I've found solace, passion, and drive through running. Actually, running inspired me to be more cognizant of my health and nutrition when I joined the cross country team in seventh grade. When these passions blossomed, I found myself searching for colleges with dietetics programs. Although running is my all-time favorite hobby, I love to read, write, explore, and be crafty as well. I'm very passionate about overall health and wellness, and find myself interested in many health related subjects.
With this major, I hope to complete my Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) requirements and be prepared to eventually become a Registered Dietitian. I even hope to work hard enough and be competitive enough to get into the Coordinated Program at UC so I can achieve these goals one year earlier. At this point, the field of Dietetics is wide open to me and I still have the opportunity to choose my focus. Right now, I haven't decided what I would like to specialize in, but I think working clinically or as a nutrition counselor would be appealing. It is easy to measure success with academic and career achievement, but my greatest aspiration in life is simply to be happy. Happiness is not an elusive emotion, in fact, it comes in all forms: achieving academic or personal goals, spending quality time with friends and family, adventuring outside of one's comfort zone, or even simply finding relief in relaxation and meditation. I'm striving to be happy and enjoy life as it comes.
